The Brooklyn Police Department is pleased to announce a new initiative directed at making police encounters safer for people with autism. We now have a voluntary registry that can notify our officers of autistic individuals in the community.
All Brooklyn Police officers have been trained specifically through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) to interact with people with autism. Our Department is constantly looking for ways on improving our service to our community. Through this training and the new registry we hope to make our community safer for everyone.
To be added to the registry, please complete our online Autism Safety Roster Application.
