Among the many facets of regionalism are communities sharing everything from department heads and equipment to shared services.
While the decision to consolidate is often driven by finances, another component post-pandemic has to do with a dwindling employment pool.
That’s the case in Brooklyn, which this week approved a move to share a building commissioner with Bedford.
“When our previous building commissioner, Ted Hurst, left for another position late last year, we posted the position, which has always been full-time,” Brooklyn Mayor Ron Van Kirk said. “We didn’t get any (candidates).
